![]() ![]() SCT Club Information for 2009/2010The South Canberra Tuggeranong Athletics Club is an Australian athletics club. It caters for all persons interested in athletics particularly those living in South Canberra and the Tuggeranong Valley. The club, currently the largest in the ACT, is affiliated with the ACT Athletics Association which is in turn affiliated with Athletics Australia. Members of SCT can participate in a wide range of events at different levels of ability at the summer track & field interclub competitions held at the AIS track, Bruce. Interclub is held on late Saturday afternoons and after Christmas on Tuesday evenings. SCT enjoyed considerable success in the 2005/06 season. During autumn/winter, club members may compete in the cross country competition conducted each Saturday afternoon by the ACT Cross Country Club. To achieve the goal of supporting all participants in the sport of Athletics, coaching is available from coaches associated with SCT in all events at several convenient locations. Venues include Calwell Oval, Woden Athletics Field, Kambah No.3 Oval, The AIS Track and Stromlo Forest. SCT will pay coaches affiliation fees for those coaches who are coaching SCT athletes - contact Mike Sexton for further information. If you wish to have your name listed on this page, contact Ewen.
2009/2010 Membership Information To join SCT you will need complete an online registration at the ACT Clubs Online website and list South Canberra Tuggeranong as your chosen club. The full amount of the registration fee is paid by SCT to the ACT Athletic Association Inc. which sets the fees charged for the registration of an athlete in the ACT. The fee includes insurance cover at all events conducted under the auspices of ACT Athletics. This year's registration fees cover the period from 31 March 2009 to 31 March 2010. "Winter Only" registration will suit those runners who don't compete on the track and "Summer Only" registration will suit those athletes who don't compete in the cross country season.
Little Athletes ACT Little Athletics members can take out Dual Registration with Athletics ACT. Dual Registration is only for athletes in the Under 12 to Under 15 Little Athletics age groups for season 2009-10. The athlete is eligible to compete at all Athletics ACT and Athletics Australia sanctioned events (Winter Only - 1 April to 30 September; Summer Only - 1 October to 31 March 2010). If an athlete registers with Athletics ACT first, they do not pay the ACT Little Athletics Association component ($60.00) for 2009-10 season. Please retain this receipt for proof of payment to be shown to your Little Athletics Centre where you will only pay the Centre fee. If you have registered with Little Athletics first, then do not pay online as the fee of $60.00 will be waived, but the AACT Club fee still applies. Uniforms Male: New 'action-back' design 'coolmax' singlet and black shorts. Female: New 'coolmax' crop top and black shorts. The price is $40 for both singlets and crop tops. Assistant: Ewen Thompson Mail Address: South Canberra Tuggeranong AC, PO Box 276, ERINDALE CENTRE, ACT, 2903 Financial Support Club policy (under review) is that financial support is available for junior and senior club members selected in ACT teams (including officials) for Open and All-Schools National Championships and other interstate, national and international events, as approved by the committee from time to time. A written application must be made no later than two months after the competition. The degree of support can be up to 50% of individual team fares and accommodation costs as a maximum, depending upon the number of athletes to be supported, cost and time to time availability of club funds. Vikings Elite Athlete Development Fund This is a joint venture between SCT and the Tuggeranong Valley Rugby Union & Amateur Sports Club. The purpose of the fund is to assist those athletes who are attempting to make the transition to the open elite level in athletics. The eligibility criteria for membership of the VEADF can be seen here. Education Scholarships Limited access to applications for TVRUASC (Tuggeranong Valley Rugby Union & Amateur Sports Club) affiliated club sporting scholarships at college and tertiary education levels is available by application through SCTAC in Dec/Jan each year. Generally, applications seek evidence of satisfactory academic performance and sporting participation with SCTAC. Applications recommended by SCTAC are forwarded to TVRUASC where they are considered in competition with applications from other TVRUASC affiliated clubs. Contact Jane McGlew for further details.
